When I contacted Lorna after seeing her website, I had no idea that she would become what I call my“ Guru”! I have a daughter Daisy with a rare condition called adams olivers syndrome, and I had to get fit and lose weight for the 3 peak mountain challenge to raise money for her.
My diet was appalling and I was crying daily, eating lots of chocolate and feeling stuck in an angry bubble that I didn’t know how to get out of. Living with my daughters condition is draining and you need to have lots of energy to cope.. and I wasn’t coping, I was using caffeine to keep me awake. Giving up caffeine was a huge benefit for me, and I now can’t believe I even used to drive with it in my body as I feel so much more alert after giving up.
Lorna helped me all the way, I lost 19lbs of fat in the first 8 weeks and came off my 40ml anti depressants and now feel I have a much more balanced lifestyle, and can now even wear Lycra!! I love it! I even find myself choosing to wear it over other clothes just so I can work out when I need to! My kids have started to respect me, especially my little girl Izzy who is on the larger side, its good for her to see that I now look after myself. I feel less stressed and have so much energy and am a more organised person!
With Lorna’s help, I now know how hard I can push my body and I will never go back to how I was. She was always there for me, even with little things that I felt I didn’t understand about food. She never made me feel uneasy or embarrassed and if I fell off the wagon, she was there for me and got me straight back on track.
What I have been saying to anyone is, if you feel your life is coming to a standstill, go and see one of the team at Lifestyles for Living because if you add up everything you would spend on faddy diets, stupid pills and shakes, advice that doesn’t work, or gym membership where you would only find yourself sitting in the sauna, this PT is sooo worth it!

I decided to start personal training with Lorna after she successfully transformed my twin sister prior to her wedding day. Having been a keen runner triathlete and cake eater,I found Lorna's diet tips easy to follow. Mark really helped me realise that to improve my shape, fitness and health I would need to make my exercise and diet a life-style thing. I soon realised that I could not out train eating naughty snacks and drinking lots of beer and that I needed to train consistently to get the results I craved. I have used gyms on my own for years and tried a couple of other personal trainers in the past but neither of them come anywhere near close to the results I have gained working with Mark and Lorna. Lorna helps me with my very specific dietary needs and takes my measurements and Mark puts me through my paces helping me get fitter and stronger and looking and feeling good about myself. I had a couple of bad sports injuries in the past leaving me with a bad shoulder and hip which used to really get me down but Marks exercises have been very personally tailored to what I need and I now have to confidence in my body to go ski-ing for long periods of time and also get my arms out in public! Mark is very motivating even though he can be a cheeky bugger sometimes. :-) My over all shape has well improved and people tell me that I look great and I can now actually accept the compliment!! "I went to see Mark over 2 years ago now with a long standing calf injury that I could not shake off. Mark took the time to look at how my body was (or more to the point wasn't) working and explained how other muscles were not working correctly, which in turn was putting pressure on elsewhere. I had Polio when I was a child which left me with "dodgy hips" and I was quite worried about starting an exercise programme at the start. I'm an independent so keeping my mobility is very important to me and I also wanted to shift some excess weight which has crept on and improve my confidence. "I had been training for 2 years with minimal visual results. I got to a stage where I was severely unhappy with my size and shape and my self confidence was non-existant. I was aware of Lorna from seeing her working with clients in the gym but had not spoken to her. One day I was in the gym and Lorna overheard a conversation i was having about my poor diet and my ongoing problems with my hamstrings. She was polite and interrupted by offering some friendly advice. It was then that I asked about their nutrition support. I was surprised by how reasonable the price was, so I booked an appointment. The initial consultation included going through my current eating habits and having my body statistics measured. I was unhappy to find out I was slightly over 17 stone with 17.5% bodyfat - probably the biggest I have ever been! Lorna assured me that she can help me turn this around and provided me with a diet plan and advice which was easy to follow, cheap and easy to prepare. I left feeling slightly sceptical as to whether diet alone would help me improve my shape and lose bodyfat. 2 weeks later I returned for my review and had my body stats remeasured. I was astounded at the results!!! I had lost 15lbs and my bodyfat had reduced to 15.2%! I have now been following the way Lorna has advised me to eat for 2 months and I am 15 stone and 13.1% bodyfat. Back in 2004 I was trying to get back on track after some trauma in my life and I was struggling to improve my time for the race for life.
